“Rheinlegendchen” from Des Knaben Wunderhorn, for alto—doubling C instrument—and bass recorders
from: G. Mahler (1860-1911)
Originally in A major transposed here to F. Primarily based on orchestral version which differs in many ways with piano version which was also consulted. Title means "Little Rhine-Legend" from The Youth’s Magic Horn. There is a switch in Recorder I part from alto to either tenor or soprano midway through (approximately). The dynamics which come from the original orchestral parts are not to be taken overly seriously since they cannot be followed precisely on recorders. They are included for their general character indications rather than for literal interpretation. Note that we also offer a version for recorder and keyboard.
