Sonata, K. 547, L. S28, P. 551, two different versions
from: D. Scarlatti (1685-1757)
Originally for keyboard solo in G major, transposed here to C in one version for alto throughout. In the alternative version, three different recorders are required: Beginning with alto in F @415, then switching to voice flute @415, followed by alto in G @440, (and then reverting to recorder in F @415), the result being that the whole piece sounds in B major. The reason for creating this unusual arrangement is that it makes one particular passage on the recorder far easier. Both versions involve the keyboard going below our normal low of “cello C”. It should be noted that if another arrangement is desired, that is, a different configuration with the same relationship of three recorders each at a minor third remove from one another, please let us know and we should be able easily to create such an arrangement. Revised July 10, 2023.
Keyboard parts include separate recorder parts at no additional cost.
