Originally for two trumpets and in F major transposed here to D. Makes use of canon by exact interval inversion in first seven bars. Is considered by some to be among Satie's experiments in Musique d'ameublement (Furniture music). Title means Carillon to wake the good and fat King of the Monkeys (who always sleeps with only one eye).
